IN OUR LEADERSHIP

In 2018, as part of our transformational strategic plan, we committed to becoming a best-practice and learning organization. As part of that commitment, Women First ensures that each year our organization’s leadership better represent the communities we serve. We have since diversified our decision-making bodies with a focus not merely on demographics, but also intentionally expanding the skillset and lived experience of new members, to bring together a formidable team of experts who can provide significant support to our grantee partners on the ground.

IN OUR GRANTMAKING

Decisions around grant-making strategy, are made through our Programs Committee, currently made up of individuals who are from the countries in which we make grants and include a previous grantee partner. As the committee evolves, we will continue to seek topic area experts and those with lived experiences of the issues our grantee partners are solving.

Women First has a thematic focus on economic empowerment and supports women-led groups who share this focus. Our grantee partners work to improve livelihoods and foster financial independence through intersectional strategies that serve a range of communities.
